Colombo, Pettah Bazaar, Local Fruit, Vegetables and Spices

Your newly-designed tour begins with a short drive to the Pettah Bazaar. Upon arrival, you are introduced to the street food of the area during a gld Cruise guests, your guided stroll through this local colourful, bustling local market. Along the way, discover the local fruit, vegetables and spices used in Sri Lankan cooking, as well as their importance and health benefits. You can even purchase some spices for your cooking session, or to take them home. The cacophony, palette of colours and locals are all an audio-visual delight, and make for wonderful photo opportunities.

Independence Square, Comfort and Photo Stop, Mount Lavinia Hotel, Master Chef Dr. Publis Silva

Leaving the market, re-board your coach and head to Independence Square. After a comfort and photo stop here, re-board your coach for the approximately 45-minute transfer to the Mount Lavinia Hotel. Upon arrival, you are greeted by celebrated Sri Lankan Master Chef Dr. Publis Silva and escorted to the kitchen.

Sri Lankan Cooking and Cocktail-Making Demonstration with Dinner

Next, Master Chef Silva shares his culinary expertise with you during a lively and informative cooking demonstration. Observe and learn to how to prepare typical Sri Lankan dishes, curries and salads, each differing in their taste, aroma, colour and flavour. To add some fun to the evening, a Sri Lankan cocktail-making session using the local Arrack has also been arranged. Following your cooking demonstration, enjoy a dinner consisting of the dishes prepared by Master Chef Silva. After dinner, your tour concludes with an approximately one-hour drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 0.9 miles (about 1.45 kilometres), at times over uneven surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and shuttle bus, ten steps at Independence Square and 20 steps at the Mount Lavinia Hotel; a lift is available at the hotel. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection and local currency from the ship for purchases. Guests must be at least 18 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. The coaches utilised are the best-available in the area, but may not be up to the standards of those found on other excursions. Expect crowds and traffic at the sites visited. Depending on traffic and parking conditions, it may be necessary to cross busy streets at some sites. The tour sequence may vary. Space on this tour is extremely limited; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
