Take a ride with an open-air jeep thru Bequia's main town Port Elizabeth to Hamilton Fort where there are beautiful views of Port Elizabeth Harbor and mainland St. Vincent where you can take the opportunity to take memorable pictures. Then, you take a scenic drive along the Atlantic Coast while enjoying the sea breeze.

Firefly Plantation, guided tour of the Grenadine Sea Salt production

Upon arrival at the Firefly Plantation, you will enter the Grenadine Sea Salt production facility to meet tour guide who will introduce you to the story of Grenadine Sea Salt and the Sugar Mill where it is located. Visitors are told about the history of the Old Sugar Mill, which dates back to the early 18th century, with photographs of the old ruin before the restoration.

Local snacks,

You will observe workers in the Grenadine Sea Salt Clean room and working commercial kitchen producing the various blends. Walk to the relaxing courtyard area where you enjoy tasty local snacks featuring a variety of Grenadine Sea Salts and a glass of coconut or plain water.

While you are enjoying their tasting the tour guide will provide information on various ways to use the finishing salts, accompanied by a handout with salt facts to take home.

Afterwards you will have some historic details of the old mill, including the old indigo vats, and introduced to the park-like surroundings; walk to the solar evaporation salt stills area where a guide explains how Grenadine Sea Salt is produced from Bequia seawater.

Guide of the Firefly Plantation, drink in the Firefly Restaurant

Then a guide at Firefly Plantation gives a tour of the plantation with its varied agricultural history, highlighting the various fruit trees that grow on the island.

The tour would not be complete before walk to the lovely Firefly restaurant where you will have a cocktail or mocktail featuring Grenadine Sea Salt, complete with recipe and instruction and tips for how to salt a rim of a glass.

Finally you will have some free time in the Grenadine Sea Salt Gift Shop At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your open air jeep and commence the approximately 15-minute drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking and riding over bumpy and uneven surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the safari-style, open-air jeep. This tour is not suitable for guests with back and/or neck problems, guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. A minimum number of guests per guide is required for operation of this tour.
