Pic Saint-Louis Hiking Trail
The most famous hike in Fort Dauphin (Tolagnaro) is the Pic Saint-Louis. It is a steep hike and very strenuous. Guests accompanied by local guides will hike the trail that starts from the sisal factory of SIFOR. It is advisable to wear a pair of long light weight pants so that the legs are protected from the vegetation /thorns. The vegetation is mainly composed of bush, travellers palm trees, On arrival at the summit (529 meters) you can see from east to west: Sainte-Luce, Lokaro Bay, Evatraha Point, Dauphine Cove (Faradofay Bay), Libanona Point, Fausse-Baie des Galions, Ehoala peninsula, Lake Andriambe and Pic Lavasoa.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking of approximately 3-4km or 1.8-2 miles on uneven surfaces and some steps to negotiate.This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or those who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight comfortable clothing, and flat, closed-toe walking shoes are recommended. Guests are advised to bring with them sun protection, a hat, sunglasses and repellent for insects. It is advisable to wear a pair of long light weight pants so that the legs are protected from the vegetation /thorns and long sleeves for sun protection. Expect the weather to be hot and humid. Please bring extra water with you. Sighting of wildlife cannot be guaranteed. Please ask for permission to take photos of locals. It is forbidden to photograph military bases/personnel or military buildings. Souvenir shop accepts USD and EURO cash only. No credit cards accepted.
