Depart the pier for the brief walk to the hydrofoil departure pier, then embark your awaiting hydrofoil for the scenic, approximately 45-minute drive to Favignana, the largest of the Egadi Islands. Favignana is located approximately 4.3 miles (about seven kilometres) from the west coast of Sicily, between Trapani and Marsala. The village rises around a natural cove where the harbour is structured. On its shores stand the buildings of the ancient 'Tonnara Florio', a tuna fishery and factory.

Favignana is also part of the Egadi Islands Nature Reserve, which was established in 1991. The traditional Mediterranean architecture of the island, characterized by white plastering and blue or green windows, have been rediscovered and valorised, especially in recent years. The island is mainly covered by Mediterranean scrub made of bush shrubs and Mediterranean pine forests.

Village Centre, Florio Palace, Tonnara Florio, Videos, Antiquarium, Artefacts

Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour through the centre of the ancient village. Along the way, an exterior photo stop is made at the neo-Gothic Florio Palace. Built by Ignazio Florio between 1876 and 1878, the palace is now owned by the municipality; today, it hosts the tourist information office. Next, visit Tonnara Florio, the former Favignana tuna fishery and factory. Although no longer in operation due to the reduced number of tuna caught, it was restored between 2003 and 2009. Inside, you can watch videos about the tuna fishery and visit the Antiquarium to view historical finds recovered in the sea of the Egadi Islands. Following your tour and some free time at your leisure, embark the hydrofoil for the ride back to the hydrofoil departure pier, then commence the short walk back to the pier.
