Museum of Ethnography

Depart the pier for a short drive to the Museum of Ethnography. It displays over 16,000 ethnographic exhibits from all the Romanian regions including among others, the collection of unique glass icons and the colourful festive folk costumes exhibited in four upper halls.


Histria

Continue with a scenic drive along the Black Sea coast to ancient town of Histria, located on the shore of the lake Sinoe and founded by the Greek colonists from Millet 2.600 years ago. It was the first Greek colony on the west shore of Pontos Euxinus (Black Sea) and is the oldest antique city on the Romanian territory discovered in 1914 by the Romanian archaeologist and historian Vasile Parvan. For 8 centuries during the Greek and Roman epoch Histria was a prosperous and developed city with the paved streets, comfortable houses, aqueducts, gymnasiums and temples. The city was destroyed several times by the invasions of the nomadic tribes and with time left in ruins and at last abandoned.

The town's fascinating past will be revealed as you walk along its streets and explore its ruins. Delve deep into the history of this ancient city and listen to the guide's narration bringing the remnants of the ancient walls, temples, sacred fountains and baths to life.


Histria Archaeological Museum

Next to the fortress is the Museum of Histra displaying collection of sculptural and architectural fragments, amphoras, statuettes, ceramics, glass vases, coins and jewelry.


Conclude the tour with the return drive to the pier.
