Discover a medieval fortified city and fairytale-like neo-Gothic castle on this half-day (four-hour) guided walking tour through Breton history.

Embark from the pier and board your coach for the 15-minute drive to Keriolet Castle, built in the 13^th century and transformed in the 19^th century into a true architectural jewel at the request of the Russian Imperial Princess Zénaïde Narisckine (aunt of Tsar Nicolas II) and her husband the Count Charles de Chauveau. Learn about the destinies of this royal couple, he 30 years her junior and a commoner whose nobility was purchased by his wife. Listen as your guide shares tales about other interesting owners of the castle, too. See the unique neo-Gothic architecture fairytale-like, complete with storybook towers, gargoyles, and flamboyant Gothic windows. Then enjoy some free time to roam the Castle gardens.

Reboard your coach for the short drive back to the pier, then walk into Concarneau, a harbor and seaside town that once was a fortified Breton city. Discover the historical Ville Close, or walled city, built in the 14^th century on an island in the middle of the harbor. Walk the ramparts of this well-preserved town and take in the expansive view of Concarneau. Let your guide regale you with the history of this small, yet mighty fortification that was the cradle of Concarneau's early history.

After your visit, stroll the alleys and narrow streets on your own for about 30 minutes before walking back to the pier.
