Excursion Amami oshima highlight tour tour at Amami Oshima

Amami Oshima is an unspoiled natural paradise situated in the Amami islands and surrounded by transparent waters, brightly colored coral reefs and tropical fish. On land, 95% of the island is covered in forest and mangrove and offers fantastic and rare birdwatching and wildlife sightings.

The day begins in Oshimatsumugi Kimono village, where you can see local industry and watch the process of making tsumugi and kasuri silk-cotton fabrics. Stroll the craft complex in a beautiful hillside setting among flowers and many of the plants used in dyeing.

Next is a visit to Bashayama Village to enjoy a lunch including Keihan, one of the best specialities in Amami. Known as Amami's soul food, Keihan consists of chicken, egg and other ingredients placed on rice and covered in chicken broth. During the lunch time, watch local people playing the instrument called Shamisen with drum. After lunch, there is some free time to walk along the beautiful beach or Kenmun-Mura, lined with old traditional houses.
