Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Experience the authentic soul of Apulia during this memorable, full-sensory excursion through the countryside to a traditional masseria, where time-honoured culinary traditions come to life.

Countryside Drive

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.5-hour drive through Bari’s fertile countryside, a patchwork of olive groves, vineyards, and whitewashed farmhouses that define this sun-kissed region. Upon arrival at the masseria, you’ll be welcomed by local artisans eager to share their craft.

Mozzarella & Burrata Workshop

Step into the dairy room where the mastro casaro, or master cheesemaker, demonstrates the intricate art of transforming fresh milk into mozzarella and burrata. Observe each step of the process, from curdling to stretching—and learn how skill, patience, and passion come together in every braid of cheese.

Taralli & Pasta Demonstration

Next, meet the fornaie, traditional bakers who will guide you through the preparation of Apulia’s beloved taralli and orecchiette, the region’s iconic ear-shaped pasta. Learn how these staples are shaped by hand and baked to perfection, and discover their importance in the local culinary tradition.

Farmhouse Lunch

Following your demonstrations, sit down to a genuine three-course lunch in the rustic dining hall of the masseria. Relish freshly prepared dishes made with local ingredients, complemented by Apulian house wine and soft drinks. Enjoy this convivial atmosphere, where hospitality is as generous as the flavours.

After lunch, re-board your coach for the relaxing, approximately 1.5-hour drive back to the pier.
