The boardwalk at Saddle Island offers a scenic and accessible pathway around the coastline, providing stunning views of the ocean and the rugged shoreline. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Red Bay, the island is renowned for its historical significance in maritime and whaling history. Visitors will be transferred by Zodiac to the island, enjoy a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk, observe local wildlife, and appreciate the natural beauty of this UNESCO-listed area. After exploring Saddle Island, return to Red Bay for a leisurely walk through the town, visit Parks Canada building and enjoy a the taste of Labrador cuisine at Whaler’s restaurant at their leisure.

Please note: A moderate amount of walking and standing for approximately 1 km (0.6 miles) on Saddle Island. At times over uneven, unpaved surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the zodiac. Walking in town is at is at the discretion of each guest. Local infrastructure is basic, and local road conditions are unpredictable and may be challenging. Guides, equipment, and services are the best available on the island but may not be up to the standards of those found on other excursions therefore we urge flexibility and understanding as we visit unique and somewhat remote destinations. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, sun protection and insect repellant are recommended.
