Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Enjoy a wide-ranging culinary and cooking experience in Hoi An, a quiet and tranquil town located south of Da Nang. Formed as a trading port town its style and ambiance have remained somewhat unchanged since its creation. Now embedded into the Vietnam highlights, Hoi An has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site so that its culture and traditional ways may be protected for all to see and enjoy.
Transfer (an hour's journey) to Hoi An and enjoy a stroll at the local market to see how the local people come and pick up their fresh ingredients for daily cooking. Walk through the ancient town, passing by the Chinese Assembly Hall and local shops along the way to The Market restaurant for your culinary adventure.
On arrival sample local food such as banh mi, dumplings and pickles among a variety of other diverse and wonderful food. See rice paper being made from ground rice and water, laid out to dry on bamboo and then later roasted for rice crackers to eat with Hoi An chili sauce and salad. If you wish, you may participate in many of the street food counters cutting noodles, making rice paper and wontons, using the bun noodle machine and more.
After sampling a range of exotic treats, prepare the same dishes yourselves in Chef Vy's cooking course. Chef Vy is the author of "Taste Vietnam: The Morning Glory Cookbook." She is a talented chef who is known throughout the local community as an authority on Vietnamese cuisine, and has consulted for several world-renowned chefs. Her fellow chefs can share all the secrets to cooking delicious Vietnamese dishes.
Once your culinary skills have been honed, sit back and relax over the lunch that you have just cooked.
