After departing from the port, your first stop will be the Liepaja Holy Trinity Lutheran Cathedral, a historic landmark and the seat of the Bishop of Liepaja. This magnificent cathedral is the principal church of the Diocese of Liepaja and a must-see for those interested in the city’s religious heritage. Your walking tour will then take you to Rose Square, the vibrant heart of the city. From here, you’ll stroll through the Old Town, including Kuršu (Courlandian) Square, the oldest square in Liepaja. In the past, this square was lined with one-story houses, inns, and gardens. In 1910, a new market pavilion with an ornate facade was added at the southern end, creating the city’s central marketplace—Peter's Market. Next, enjoy a pleasant walk-through Seaside Park, which features the Alley of Fame of Latvian Musicians, the “Ghost Tree”, the “Put Vejini” concert garden, and the beautiful white sand beach.
A short drive will then take you to Madame Hoyer's Guest House, a museum showcasing the interiors of 17th to 19th-century Liepaja. Step back in time as you explore the preserved living rooms of this historic home, with its original 17th-century layout and furnishings. Admire the restored mantelpiece, complete with a bread oven, as well as the elegant wallpaper and floor plans that reflect the lifestyle of a wealthy Liepaja resident during the 19th century. Following the museum tour, enjoy a delicious lunch at the guest house’s tavern and experience authentic flavours of the region. After lunch, we’ll make a brief stop at the “Great Amber” concert hall and the Liepaja Canal before returning to your ship.
