Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

This accessible half-day tour from the pier introduces the coastal beauty and sacred traditions of Ise-Shima. You'll journey along the scenic Ise Shima Skyline, a toll road celebrated for its sweeping mountain and sea views, embodying sustainable tourism.

Ise-Shima Skyline

Your tour begins at the pier, where you board a large, comfortable coach for a short drive to the Ise-Shima Skyline, a scenic mountain road renowned for its panoramic views over the sea and peninsula. The road winds gently toward the summit area, offering glimpses of Ise Bay and the surrounding landscapes.

Mt. Asama Observatory

Your first stop is the Mt. Asama Observatory, located near the top of Mount Asama. Here, you will enjoy approximately 50 minutes of breathtaking mountain-top scenery with sweeping views of Ise Bay, the Shima Peninsula, and (weather permitting) distant horizons. The area is almost entirely paved with only a few small steps, making the visit accessible and easy to explore. Restrooms are available.

Futami Okitama Shrine, Meoto Iwa

Next, the tour continues with a 30-minute transfer to Futami Okitama Shrine, a historically significant coastal shrine traditionally visited by pilgrims before they traveled on to Ise Jingu. The highlight here is the iconic Meoto Iwa (“Married Rocks”), two sacred stones connected by a thick shimenawa rope symbolizing unity and harmony. You will also find numerous small frog statues, believed to bring good fortune and safe return. The pathways are mostly paved with a few gentle steps, and restrooms are available.

Following this peaceful and scenic visit, you will re-board the coach and enjoy a final 30-minute drive back to the pier, concluding this gentle and visually stunning half-day experience.
