Discover the capital of the Algarve Province during this scenic, full-day sightseeing excursion to Faro and its environs.


Faro

Depart the pier for the approximate one-hour drive to Faro. Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour of the city. Along the way, pass through the town's arch, or 'Arco da Vila', located at the top of the Manuel Bivar Gardens, and observe centuries of history in this Arab and Medieval city.

Vila-Adentro

As you stroll along the narrow, cobbled streets and squares of the Old City of Vila-Adentro, see the statue of King Praça Afonso III. Additional highlights include the city walls, which were built by the Arabs in the 9th century, the Cathedral, the Monastery of Our Lady of Assumption, now an Archaeological Museum and the 18th-century Our Lady of Repose Chapel. Near the city walls are the early-19th century buildings that lodge the Civil Government and the City Council.


Estoi

Following your walking tour, some free time is made available for shopping at the city centre before re-boarding your coach for the drive to Estoi. Upon arrival, proceed for lunch at the Pousada de Estoi restaurant, which is situated in the 19th-century Estoi Palace.


Almansil

After lunch, drive to the village of Almansil for a visit to the Church of São Lourenço. An outstanding example of Algarvian architecture, its interior is adorned with beautiful, 18th-century ceramic tile. Your tour concludes with an approximate one-hour drive back to the pier. En route, pass by Quinta do Lago, the most famous resort in the Algarve. It features Portugal's best golf courses, and luxury villas belonging to famous singers and sports personalities.
