Excursion Halifax harbour highlights & wine sail tour at Halifax
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Step aboard a luxury motor sailing yacht or catamaran for a narrated harbor cruise experience curated to showcase the beauty of Halifax Harbour across the water, and the two delightful glasses of wine you’ll enjoy, created by Nova Scotia area estates.
The engines will be eased back and the sails set for a wind-driven survey of the harbor’s most interesting sites. Learn about Halifax’s contemporary allure as well as its spectacular history, including tumultuous events such as the great 1917 Halifax Explosion and the city’s connection to the 1912 HMS Titanic disaster. Enjoy a mariner's view of iconic locations such as Georges Island National Historic Site, McNab's Island, the Port of Halifax, Pier 21, and more. And sip the wines the crew will serve along the way – one sparkling, the other a white regional appellation – as they provide entertaining insider information about the vineyards and vintners behind them. For accompaniment, choose your desired nibbles from a shared grazing board loaded with meats, cheeses, fruit, nuts, olives, and chocolate.
The boat sails from a slip located about 15 minutes walk from where your ship is docked, a distance of some .75 mi (1.3 km) each way along a wooden waterfront boardwalk. While not quite as dramatic as the panoramas you’ll enjoy from the water, even this part of your experience is scenic. Be sure to bring along your favorite camera to capture it all for posterity.
Return to the ship at your own leisure.
