Excursion Hiking lillomarka nature reserve tour at Oslo

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

If your recent days at sea have you pining for a dose of terrestrial beauty, this half-day hiking adventure has it all covered – dense fir and pine forests, meandering trails, tranquil lakes, and more. The long but leisurely walk brings you deep into the trails of the Lillomarka/Nordmarka region, a sprawling natural retreat cherished by Oslo’s locals. You’ll begin with a 30-minute route by urban transport from the city center, traveling with your guide by subway to Nydalen, then by bus to Solemskogen – where the approximately two-hour trek into the forestlands and lakes begins.

Breathe in the crisp air as you make your way through a vast green retreat brimming with classically Nordic natural attractions. Discover a picturesque forest landscape dotted with small marshes and scenic viewpoints. And, with your experienced guide's help, become familiarized with the flora and fauna known to thrive here –  as well as the remnants of abandoned mines that chronicle the region’s long human history. Your primary hike concludes at Vesletjern, a serene lake perfect for enjoying a refreshing and well-earned swim, or simply relaxing along the shoreline for a water and snack break featuring Kvikk Lunsj, Norway’s delicious answer to the Kit Kat bar.

From there, a short walk brings you to the Ammerud T-Bane metro station for the 30-minute return by subway to Oslo city center – followed by a brief walk back to the pier.
