Depart from Aburatsu Port for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to Inohae Gorge. Along the way, enjoy views of the rolling hills and peaceful countryside, and take note of the local flora that marks the region. Upon arrival, your local guide will welcome you and provide a short introduction to the gorge and its ecosystem, including the techniques and benefits of forest bathing.

Moss Forest Walking

The walking portion of the tour lasts about three-hours and follows a carefully planned route through gravel, cobbled, and wood-chip paths. You will explore the gorge entrance, where the guide introduces the loupes that allow you to examine the intricate moss patterns up close. Continue through moss walls, admire the rich textures and colors, and pause in the “Forest of Learning,” a quiet area for mindfulness and relaxation exercises.

Gentle hills, several steps, and occasional inclines add variety to the trail, enhancing the immersive experience of the forest. Your guide shares insights into the local flora and fauna, creating a unique opportunity to connect deeply with nature and enjoy the calming effects of the moss-covered landscape.

Inohae Footbath

Following the forest walk, take a short transfer to the nearby Inohae Footbath. Here, soak your feet in the warm waters while reflecting on the tranquil beauty of the forest. This stop provides a peaceful moment of relaxation before returning to the coach.

At the end of your experience, reboard to your transportation and drive approximately 30-minutes back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves approximately three kilometres (1.9 miles) of walking through Inohae Gorge over gravel, cobbled, and wood-chip paths, with several steps and gentle inclines. Walking is at the discretion of each guest. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or wheelchair users. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. Guests should wear trekking shoes and bring rain gear, as some paths may be slippery. Towels are required for the footbath. The tour may be cancelled by the local nature guide in the event of adverse weather. Guests must be at least six years old to participate. Local guides may have strong accents, and flexibility is appreciated.
