Lake Rotoiti

Depart the pier with your driver-guide for the approximately 1-hour drive to the lake. Enjoy a scenic sea-kayak experience past the cascading native bush including the Pohutukawa, New Zealand's native Christmas tree. View classic kiwi holiday homes dotted amongst the cliffs and coves. Explore the quiet lake's edge with abundant birdlife before parting the bush to enter the glow-worm cave.


Hot Pools

Relax in the natural thermal hot pools as you reflect on your nature experience. Enjoy the myths and legends of the Maori people linked to Lake Rotoiti relayed to you by your guide.


Your tour concludes back at the pier after an approximately 1-hour drive.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of physical activity and is recommended for guests in good physical condition in order to operate their kayak. This is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or those who utilise a wheelchair. The maximum weight limit is 308 pounds (140 kilograms/22 stones). Minimum age required is 8 years old. Jeans are not allowed, we recommend shorts or casual pants; a fleece or rain jacket depending on the weather and to bring a swimsuit and a towel from the ship. This kayaking tour operates in two-seat kayaks and consists of approximately 2 hours in total of paddling. In the event of adverse weather conditions on Lake Rotoiti, for guests' safety and comfort an alternative location will be used and the tour duration may vary. The alternative location does not include the glow worm cave. A picnic snack is provided. A signed waiver is required to participate on this tour.
