Excursion Magens bay & snorkeling with turtles tour at Saint Thomas

Approximately thirty minutes from bustling Charlotte Amalie, a very different St. Thomas adventure beckons. Travel over the central mountains by open-air safari bus to reach legendary Magens Bay Beach on the north coast. After a short briefing on snorkeling basics, expert guides will introduce you to the sea turtles and other graceful creatures that glide around you as you explore these clear, calm waters – in many places even shallow enough to allow you to snorkel while standing!

Underwater Session

Spend about an hour in the water as your guides explain sea turtle behaviors and lead the way to the best spots for observing them in their sparkling natural habitat. Another area visited promises the possibility of spotting stingrays, eagle rays, even dolphins if conditions are right. Overall, you’ll find yourself impressed by the zen-like tranquility of their underwater lives.

Beach Time

After the snorkeling, head over to Magens’ beach bar for about 45 minutes of free time along this captivating strand. The scenery is marvelous, the water is inviting, and the photo ops are plentiful. Drinks, food, and souvenirs are also available for purchase if you’re inclined.

Back to Civilization

With your beaching completed, climb back into your transport for the scenic half-hour return drive over the mountains – complete with breathtaking views. Passing through historic downtown Charlotte Amalie, renowned for its duty-free shopping area, you can choose to either return to the ship straightaway or explore a while on your own before finding your way back to the pier later.

This moderate excursion involves activities in the water and walking over sand. It is not suitable for guests who utilise a wheelchair or have limited mobility. A waiver must be signed to participate; guests should consider their physical fitness and comfort in the water before choosing this excursion. Bottled water is provided in the tour vehicle, which features bench seating. Bring along your preferred sun protection, swimwear, towel, and change of clothes. Food and beverages can be purchased at Magens Bay and downtown at guests’ discretion. The order of sights and activities may vary.
