Cliffside Drive and Udo Shrine
Depart the pier for a scenic drive of approximately 30-minutes along the coast to Udo Shrine, perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This unique shrine is partly nestled within a cave, creating a mystical and serene atmosphere.
Upon arrival, your guide will lead you around the shrine grounds, sharing insights into the legends and rituals of this sacred site. Don’t miss the chance to try the traditional “undama” (lucky balls) ritual, aiming to toss them into a target for good fortune. The combination of vivid vermilion architecture and stunning ocean vistas makes Udo Shrine a memorable experience for both photography and reflection.
Obi Castle Town
Next, re-board the coach and transfer for approximately 30-minutes to Obi Castle Town, a beautifully preserved Edo-period district. Here, you will stroll along cobblestone streets lined with samurai residences, merchant houses, and stone walls that evoke centuries of history. Explore Matsuono Maru, a reconstructed samurai residence, and visit the Yosho-kan Museum to see artifacts related to the Obi clan. The Obi Castle History Museum offers additional insight into the castle’s legacy and regional history. Guided by your “Ayumi-chan Map,” you can leisurely discover hidden gems and architectural details that highlight the town’s unique character.
Following your exploration of Obi Castle Town, re-board your coach for the scenic drive back of approximately 30-minutes to Aburatsu Port.
