Excursion Northern beaches & seal bay exploration tour at Kangaroo Island
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Escape the crowds and explore the wilder, quieter side of Kangaroo Island on a truly personal, locally guided adventure. Hosted by third-generation islanders Ro and Phil of RAD KI, this small-group tour offers an intimate glimpse into the island’s hidden beaches, unique wildlife, and rich community spirit.
Your day begins with a warm welcome at the ferry terminal, where your guides - born and raised on the island - will introduce you to the relaxed pace of island life. From there, you’ll explore secluded coastlines, including spectacular Pennington Bay and Emu Bay, with the chance to spot wild dolphins, kangaroos, and koalas along the way.
Enjoy a homemade morning tea on the beach, complete with fresh local baking and island stories shared by Ro’s own parents. Travel through scenic conservation parks and rural backroads rarely seen by visitors, with frequent wildlife sightings and stunning photo opportunities.
Visit Australia’s most acclaimed beach, Stokes Bay, where you will stroll through dramatic rock formations to a hidden cove—perfect for a refreshing dip or peaceful paddle. Then indulge in a gourmet, bento-style picnic lunch made from seasonal island produce, overlooking the sea.
A highlight of your journey is a private guided experience at Seal Bay Conservation Park, where you will walk with a long-time ranger and local expert into one of the world’s only accessible colonies of endangered Australian sea lions. Your guide Ro knows every corner of this beach - it's part of her family’s story.
The day also includes a special visit to your hosts’ private wildlife sanctuary, where you may meet orphaned animals being released back into the wild and learn about long-term conservation work, including efforts to protect the rare glossy black cockatoo.
This small group tour offers an authentic and immersive experience of Kangaroo Island that few ever see. You'll return to your ship with lasting memories, new friends, and a deeper connection to this extraordinary island.
