Set out from Urago Port on an invigorating trekking adventure covering approximately 10 km along the iconic Kuniga Coast, one of the region’s most spectacular natural areas. The route leads through sweeping grasslands, sheer cliffs, and ancient geological formations shaped by millennia of wind and waves.
Walk through the impressive remains of the Shimama Caldera, a vast geological depression revealing the island’s volcanic origins. Continue toward the towering Matengai Cliff, one of Japan’s highest sea cliffs, rising sharply above the Sea of Japan and offering breathtaking coastal panoramas.
Along the trail, cross the striking natural formation known as Tsutenkyo, a rock bridge sculpted over countless years by erosion, and enjoy remarkable views of the coastline from this unique geological feature.

Please note: Grazing horses and cows may be present near Matengai Cliff; for safety, do not touch or startle them, avoid walking directly behind them, and watch for animal droppings on the ground. This experience does not utilize a bus. Approximately 10 km of trekking is required for full participation, including downhill sections along the route. Trekking shoes or sturdy sneakers are recommended, and rainwear is required in wet conditions as umbrellas cannot be used during the trek.
