Excursion Omenapuumaa nature trail tour at Andalsnes

The name Omenapuumaa does not necessarily come from growing apples or wild apple trees. Most likely, the name of the island, now the cape, is a translation of the Swedish word Åminnebo. In this case, the name refers to the settlement at the mouth of the river. The area, which has been protected since 1979, is in any case an old cultural environment, where there are still remnants of island agriculture. After more than thirty years of relaxation, the nature that gives the area its stamp are the different types of groves: dry, fresh and moist groves.
