Excursion Paamiut museum visit & town exploration tour at Paamiut

Paamiut translates to "the people who reside at the mouth" in Greenlandic, highlighting its position at the entrance of the Kuannersooq Fjord. During its time as a colony, it was known by the Danish name "Frederikshåb," meaning "Frederik's Hope." The vibrant, historic homes reflect the town's rich history of whaling and fur trading. Take a stroll through the town and visit the museum, where you can inquire about the 11 historic structures the museum is dedicated to preserving, as well as explore the rotating exhibitions.

Please note: A moderate amount of walking to fully-explore the community, however, walking is at the discretion of each guest.  Local infrastructure is basic, and local road conditions are unpredictable, note that roads in Paamiut are mostly paved, with some inclines and steps. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, sun protection and a weatherproof jacket, hat, scarf and gloves are recommended.
