Ano Lehonia, Vintage Wooden Train, Pagasetic Gulf, Pelion Landscape
Depart from the pier in Volos and travel by coach on a short drive to Ano Lehonia, the starting station of Pelion’s famed narrow-gauge line. Board the vintage wooden train for a leisurely mountain run toward Milies, passing terraced olive groves, arched stone bridges, and traditional hamlets such as Ano Gatzea, Agia Triada, Agios Athanasios, Pinakates, and Argireika. Large windows and open carriages frame changing views of the Pagasetic Gulf and the lush Pelion landscape.
Milies’ Cobbled Lanes
On arrival in Milies, join your guide for a walk through the village’s cobbled lanes, with time to browse, take photographs, or simply enjoy the atmosphere in the plane-tree-shaded square. Reboard your coach for the one hour drive back to the pier, rounding off a classic Pelion rail experience.
Note
Please Note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking of approximately 1.25 miles (2 km) over uneven surfaces, steps, and inclines, including a steep 650ft (200m) uphill walk from Milies station to the village. It is not wheelchair accessible and not suitable for guests with limited mobility; to board the train, guests must negotiate steep steps, carriages are open/partially open and have hard seats, and there are no restrooms on board. The train journey is weather-dependent, with operations subject to late changes or cancellation. Comfortable closed-toe walking shoes, sun protection, and a water bottle are recommended.
