Excursion Vágar island tour at Torshavn
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Arguably one of the most beautiful island on earth, Vàgar is an awesome paradise of spine-tingling, jaw-dropping natural sites.
Your epic adventure begins at the secluded little village of Gàsaldur, home to only 25 houses, where mighty Múlafossur Waterfall-easily the nation's most iconic image-cascades more than 30 meters (100 feet) over dramatic cliffs into the ocean below. Then it's onto coastal Bøur village with its tiny turf houses that nestled beneath mountainous peaks. Here, unbelievable views of the uninhabited islet of Tindhólmur and the sea stacks of Drangarnir jutting majestically from the North Atlantic will dazzle you. A stop at village Sandavágur's red-roofed church will introduce you to an ancient Viking Age runestone inside. One of the most beautiful buildings in the archipelago, the majesty of its location is not to be missed. Local delicacies and drinks served in an old merchant's house will cap an exhilarating day.
Note
Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking. Guests are on foot on on/off on uneven ground in Gásadalur village and Bøur village. The walk to the waterfall is on cobblestones. At Sandavágur chuch there are some steps to negotiate. We recommend guests dress in seasonal clothing and wear flat, comfortable walking shoes.
