Depart the pier for the short drive to the Kewalo Boat Harbour at Ala Moana Beach Park. Upon arrival, a short walk brings you to the Ariyal, a glamorous new vessel with two decks, mood lighting, surround-sound, onboard restroom, and a Titanic-style bow for comfortable viewing of Hawaii’s humpback whales. Your experienced local captain and crew are on-hand to ensure a safe, informative, and entertaining whale-watching adventure.

Your whale-watching adventure begins by reciting a Hawaiian chant, a prayer to the gods of the sea for a safe trip with plentiful whale encounters. Shortly afterward, pastries and beverages are made available for guests to enjoy. Cruise around the iconic Diamond Head monument in search of humpback whales, and look for their tails, fins, and spouts whilst they swim up-and-down the lush, tropical Waikiki Coast, home to one of the favourite spots on the Oahu Island for whale-watching. The opportunity to observe humpback whales from up-close is a truly amazing and unforgettable experience.

Humpback Whale Facts & Behaviours, Underwater Hydrophone, Whale Songs

Throughout your journey, your naturalist captains and crew explain whale behaviours whilst giving you the best views possible (they adhere to Federal MMPA viewing regulations, and always respect wildlife). If the whales encountered are close enough, your crew drops in a special underwater hydrophone to listen to beautiful whale songs. You and your fellow guests have a front-row seat, and may even see dolphins, other local fish, and marine life on this excursion. Your whale-watching tour concludes back at the Kewalo Boat Harbour. Upon arrival, disembark your vessel, re-board your coach, and commence the short drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a minimal amount of walking for approximately 20 yards (about 18 metres), at times over uneven surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and three steps to embark/disembark the boat. This tour is recommended for active guests who are in good physical condition. This tour is not suitable for pregnant guests, guest with neck and/or back problems, guests with heart and/or respiratory conditions, guests prone to seasickness, guests with limited mobility, and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear a swimsuit under a cover-up with beach or water shoes, and bring sun protection, a light, weatherproof jacket, towel, bottled water, and US Dollars or credit cards for purchases from the ship. Guests are required to remove their footwear prior to embarking the boat in order to keep it clean and prevent damage to the decking. This is a common practice among most/all charter boats. For guests’ comfort, our vessels have a custom-made decking material that is foam so it’s soft on feet, anti-slip, and does not overheat when exposed to the sun. Your understanding and cooperation in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our guests and staff alike is most appreciated. Guests must be at least 2 years old to participate on this tour; guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A restroom is available on board the boat. Waterproof cameras are highly-recommended. Guests may not participate if they have consumed alcohol. Although south shore waters are typically very calm during this time of year, seasickness is still possible. If guests are prone to seasickness, Dramamine is recommended the night prior, and morning of, this tour. Although the tour operator is not legally permitted to provide/sell over-the-counter medications like Dramamine, one of the items available for purchase on board the Ariyal are PSI bands (wristbands that suppress pressure points, and are scientifically proven to prevent and relieve any kind of nausea). Although frequently encountered on this type of tour, whale, dolphin, fish, and marine life sightings are not guaranteed. A signed waiver is required to participate on this tour.
