Excursion Abouko and creek tour tour at Banjul

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Discover The Gambia at its most authentic as you explore a nature reserve and take a cruise on a traditional dugout canoe, during this half-day (4.5 hours) adventure.

Embark from the pier and board your coach for the 30-minute drive to Abuko Nature Reserve. Visit the traditional educational center to discover more about this rare natural setting and the creatures that inhabit it. More than 500 birds live in the reserve, along with crocodiles and a variety of monkeys. Wander amidst the forest and observe the wildlife and endemic plants, including rare trees.

Reboard your coach for a short drive to Lamin Lodge, a rustic open-air restaurant that has enjoyed popularity since the early days of Gambian tourism. Here your pirogue awaits you for a slow cruise along the creeks of the Gambia River. Relax as you drift among the mangroves but stay alert to the possibility of spotting native birds in their natural habitats. During the cruise, enjoy fruits and other snacks.

Cruise to Denton Bridge, connecting Banjul to the mainland, and board your coach for a stop at the vibrant Albert Market before returning to the pier.
