Excursion Art nouveau city walk tour at Alesund

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Discover one of the few Art Nouveau towns remaining in the world during this scenic, half-day walking tour of Ålesund.

Ålesund Walking Tour

Depart the pier on-foot for a guided, one-hour stroll through Ålesund, a lovely and unique coastal city built in the Art Nouveau, or 'Jugend' style following a catastrophic fire in 1904. Whilst walking through the winding streets, learn about the town's storied past, and marvel at the amazing buildings, decorations and colourful facades.

Art Nouveau Centre

A stop is made at the Art Nouveau Centre for a fascinating insight into Art Nouveau through authentic interiors and objects, as well as a captivating multimedia program called From Ashes to Art Nouveau. You can experience the devastating 1904 fire via film and photographs, and impressive sound and light effects. From here, proceed to the café for coffee and cake. At the conclusion of your visit, commence the approximately 30-minute walk back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking and standing for approximately 1.86 miles (about three kilometres), at times over uneven and cobblestone surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to enter the Art Nouveau Centre. This tour is not available to wheelchair guests and not considered suitable for those with mobility concerns. Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended.
