Scenic Drive through Athens

Depart the pier for approximately an hour sightseeing drive through the city. Pass by the Olympic Stadium, home of the first modern-day Olympic Games in 1896, the former Royal Palace at Constitution Square and Syntagma Square, home of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. After seeing these and other ancient and contemporary sites, your tour continues to the world-renowned Acropolis site.

Acropolis

Upon arrival, climb the smooth marble steps of the Acropolis. After passing through the Propylaea, the entrance to the complex of buildings, view the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erectheum and its classical Porch of Maidens, the Caryatids. From here, visit the Parthenon, considered the world's most perfect example of classical architecture. Looking down from the Acropolis, see the ancient Greek theatre of Dionysos and the Roman theatre of Herod Atticus.

Free Time in Plaka Neighborhood & Lunch

Following your visit, enjoy some free time time in the colorful Plaka district, one of the most picturesque neighborhoods in Athens, featuring breathtaking architecture, gardens, cafés, shops, and restaurants. The lunch is then served at the renowned Dionysos Restaurant which offers fantastic views of the Acropolis.

The National Archaeological Museum of Athens

Afterwards, continue to The National Archaeological Museum of Athens and discover some of the most important artifacts from a variety of archaeological locations around Greece from prehistory to late antiquity. The museum is considered one of the greatest museums in the world because it houses the richest collection of artifacts from Greek antiquity worldwide.

After your visit, re-board your coach for your transfer to the Athens International Airport.

Please note: This tour is available to disembarking guests with flights departing Athens International Airport after 7:00pm. Guests must claim and clear their bags through Customs at the pier. Luggage will then accompany guests on the coach. This tour involves an extensive amount of walking for approximately 3 hours, with about 80 stairs to climb at the Acropolis. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing and non-slip, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses from the ship. Please be aware that ongoing restoration work is often carried out at the Acropolis. Security restrictions at the museum prohibit entrance with large bags or backpacks; flash photography is not permitted inside. Expect lines and crowds at the Acropolis and museum. Walking during free time is at the discretion of each guest. Please inform Shore Concierge team 24 hours in advance for vegetarian meal option. The tour sequence and timeline may vary.
