Depart the pier for the scenic, approximate 30-minute drive to Athens. Upon arrival at the drop-off point, maps are distributed before commencing your self-guided tour of the city.

Historic Landmarks

Once in Athens you have the opportunity to see a wide array of classic and contemporary landmarks. Sights of the city include Hadrian's Arch, the statue of Lord Byron, Constitution Square, the former Royal Palace, the National Gardens, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Acropolis, the Old Olympic Stadium, Parliament, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, among others.

Shopping

Visit a myriad of shops and 'tavernas' at the Plaka, the fashionable stores of Ermou Street and the city's most elegant shopping district, Kolonaki. Located above Syntagma Square, Kolonaki is lined with exclusive shops and boutiques.

Museums

Athens is home to a wide array of wonderful museums, including the Acropolis Museum, the Benaki Museum, the ancient Agora Museum, the Byzantine Museum, and the National Archaeological Museum.

Following your self-guided, full-day visit to the city, return to the drop-off point at the pre-designated time and board your coach for the approximate 30-minute drive back to the pier.

Note

Please note: This tour requires a minimal amount of walking and is suitable for guest with limited mobility as the walking is at the discretion of each guest. Free time in Athens for exploration is approximately 5 hours. Guests must meet at the pre-arranged time for the return drive to Piraeus. Guests failing to re-join their coach as advised will be responsible for returning to Piraeus at their own expense. Bring local currency or credit cards for any purchases. Please note that lunch or any entrance fees are not included. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing and non-slip, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses from the ship.
