Indulge the senses with the timeless beauty and iconic sights of Athens during a self-guided sightseeing experience. Depart the pier for an approximately 90-minute scenic drive to the city. Upon arrival, there is an opportunity to explore a wealth of both historic and contemporary landmarks at leisure.

Landmarks and Attractions

The self-guided tour includes highlights such as Hadrian's Arch, the statue of Lord Byron, Constitution Square, the former Royal Palace, the National Gardens, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Acropolis, the Old Olympic Stadium, Parliament, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, among others. Guests can browse charming shops and tavernas in the historic Plaka district, as well as explore the fashionable stores along Ermou Street and the upscale boutiques of Kolonaki, located above Syntagma Square.

Museums and Cultural Sites

Athens boasts a rich array of world-class museums, including the Acropolis Museum, the Benaki Museum, the Ancient Agora Museum, the Byzantine Museum, and the National Archaeological Museum. After a memorable exploration, guests will return to the designated drop-off point at the agreed time and board the coach for the approximately 90-minute drive back to the pier.

Travellers familiar with Athens may opt to spend a half-day sightseeing, shopping or dining on their own. Euros are required for entrance fees to popular attractions, and in most restaurants. Exchange your money on board the ship or at a currency exchange in Athens. An escort will be on coach to/from Athens. Guests failing to meet return coach are responsible for finding their own way back to ship. Driving time from Lavrion port to the city center of Athens is approximately 1.5 hours per way.
