Explore the lagoon of Walvis Bay and the beautiful wildlife found therein. Walvis Bay and the offshore islands were incorporated into the Republic of Namibia on March 1, 1994 after being governed by South Africa for a number of years. The Walvis Bay Lagoon takes pride of place for its scenic attractions in the area, where thousands of different species gather at these rich feeding grounds.

This tour takes you around the lagoon where you may get a chance to spot a vast variety of shore birds and waders including sandpipers, plovers, pelicans and herons. Enter the sedimentation pans of the Walvis Bay Salt mine and get extremely close to the birds with a strong chance to spot Phalaropes, Grebes and terns which include the rare Damara Tern.

Please note: Off-road driving over bumpy and uneven natural surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the 4x4 vehicle. The ride may be rough at times, and guests will experience bumpy, jerking motions. This tour is not suitable for pregnant guests, guests with neck/back problems or guests with limited mobility. A moderate amount of walking and standing, at times over uneven and sandy surfaces. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, sun hats, sunglasses and sun protection is recommended. Although frequently encountered on this type of tour, wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. Restroom facilities are not available on this tour. The tour sequence may vary.
