Celebrating the heritage that provides joy and good vibes to the city, this Grand Voyage Collection tour will be reproducing the atmosphere of the largest street carnival in the world, during a fun experience in the old streets of Salvador, the first capital of Brazil.
Begin with a short transfer from the port to the old town, to begin a brief walking tour.
Se Square, Samba-Reggae Show
Upon arrival at Sé Square watch a group of woman performing the percussion beats of Bahia, well known as samba-reggae. It is time to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and try to follow the dancers that will lead everybody. Expect loud music with some pauses, similar to street carnival atmosphere.
Street Party, Maragojipe Maskers
On the streets, you will be surprised by the Maragojipe maskers, a carnival tradition originated in the XIX century, from the interaction among African, Indigenous and European cultures. The maskers will show up interacting and bringing joy, and introducing you to the fanfare group in the next square (Terreiro de Jesus), playing traditional carnival songs, just the same way they celebrate carnival in the old town Salvador. You will follow the troop to the next Square (Cruzeiro de Sao Francisco), where other carnival performers will meet you to continue down the streets to Pelourinho Largo, the city most popular sight.
A stop for a local drink will be made along the way.
