From Bastia to the Mountains of Corte

Your adventure begins at Bastia Port, where you’ll board a comfortable coach and set off on a picturesque drive through Corsica’s rugged interior. As the coastline fades behind you, the scenery transforms into a world of majestic peaks, lush valleys, and winding mountain roads—a striking contrast to the island’s coastal charm.

After approximately 1.5 hours, you’ll arrive in Corte, a spectacular town perched 400 meters above sea level, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and deep river gorges. But the real magic begins when you hop aboard a charming little train that will take you up to the Corte Citadel, one of the island’s most iconic landmarks.

Explore Corte’s Citadel & the Museum of Corsica

As the little train winds through the town’s historic streets, you’ll get a first glimpse of Corte’s timeless charm, leading you straight to the 15th-century citadel. This impressive fortress, classified as a historic monument, stands as a symbol of Corsican independence and resilience, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Restonica and Tavignano valleys.

Within the citadel, you’ll visit the Museum of Corsica, an essential stop for those eager to understand the island’s unique identity. Designed by UNESCO architect Andrea Bruno, the museum seamlessly blends contemporary architecture with historical elements, offering a fascinating insight into Corsican life.

Inside, you’ll explore exhibits on Corsican traditions, history, and modern evolution, including: Ethnographic collections from Father Louis Doazan, showcasing Corsican craftsmanship and daily life, the island’s industrial and economic development from ancient trades to modern tourism and corsican identity and cultural heritage, exploring the people’s deep-rooted traditions and their quest to preserve them.

?A Taste of Corsica Lunch in Corte

After your cultural visit, take a break to savor the flavors of Corsica with a 1.5-hour lunch stop at one of Corte’s traditional restaurants. Near the Citadel of Corte, you'll find a variety of charming restaurants and cafés offering local Corsican specialties and refreshing drinks (at guests' expenses). Whether you choose a rustic tavern in the old town or a cozy café with stunning mountain views, this lunch will allow you to soak in the town’s authentic atmosphere.

Return by Little Train & Coach Transfer to Bastia

Following lunch, you’ll once again board the charming little train for a scenic ride down from the citadel, passing through Corte’s quaint streets and vibrant squares. Your coach will be waiting to transfer you comfortably back to Bastia Port, allowing you to relax and reflect on the rich history and stunning landscapes you’ve just experienced.
