Excursion Culinary treasures & beach experience tour at Deshaies
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Just a quick 15-minute spin by coach from Deshaies pier, the Fort Royal Resort sits on the northern coast of green Basse-Terre, one half of Guadeloupe’s butterfly-shaped island pair.
For the next three hours, this picture-perfect spot will be the headquarters of your discovery and tasting of classic French gastronomy revisited – and reimagined – with local Creole flair. Think of it as a senior-level tour of the culinary history of these islands.
Tropical punches, syrups, and plant jellies. Local foie gras flavored with Antillean rum. Toasts of magret (duck) breast marinated in island spices. Smoked fish fresh-caught in these waters, kicked up with hints of American-style BBQ sauce. Nectar-like Guadeloupe white rum and vintage rums as available. Mouthwatering coconut candies, sinfully good chocolates, and, of course, aromatic locally-grown coffee – all are highlighted in this relaxed guided tasting experience.
Once well-sated, you’ll also have some leisure time to get well-sunned. A deckchair will be at your disposal for postcard-pretty relaxing along Fort Royal’s red-sand beach before the return drive to your ship.
