Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Embarking on the journey from Paranaguá to Curitiba, one traverses a vast stretch of the Atlantic Rain Forest nestled in the Serra do Mar. This region ranks among the world's five most biodiverse biomes. As the altitude increases, witness the captivating transformation of landscapes and vegetation.
The inaugural stopover brings you to the Botanical Garden, an immaculately manicured green space that defines Curitiba's landscape. Serving as the city's iconic postcard, it magnetizes both tourists and locals alike.
Continuing onward, immerse yourself in the historical essence of Curitiba's old city. Trace the city's origins back to 18th-century gold seekers, exploring churches and dwellings from that era. Delve deeper into the city's cultural tapestry with a visit to the Oscar Niemeyer Museum. This renowned Brazilian architect, a key figure in Brasília's construction, lends his name to Latin America's largest art museum.
Lunchtime heralds a quintessential Brazilian culinary experience before the final sojourn leads to the Escola de Sustentabilidade, nestled amidst nature within a former quarry. Here, sustainability takes center stage, hosting courses for educators, law enforcement officers, and other city workers. As the day winds down, return to the harbor.
Note
Please note: There is a long (but scenic) bus ride to/from Curitiba of approx. 90 minutes each way. A moderate amount of walking and standing for approximately 1.5 km (0.93 miles). At times over uneven, bumpy and cobblestone surfaces (and inclines), with few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and at the local attractions. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. The tour sequence may vary.
