Excursion Dark cave adventure tour at Dong My
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Enjoy a thrilling morning experience with a visit to Dark Cave in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, selected in 2003 as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The park is named after Phong Nha Cave and the Ke Bang Forest and contains the oldest karst mountains in Asia, formed approximately 400 million years ago. There are dozens of kilometers of caves that have been only been discovered within the last several decades, including one of the most recently found caves, Dark Cave.
Dark Cave is part of the Phong Nha cave system and is a large cavern, at 5.5 km long and 80 meters high. This cave is kept without any artificial lighting so visitors can get an unspoiled experience of the yawning underground expanse as it is found in nature.
Prepare for an exciting entrance into the cave, which can only be entered by zip line from a tower. From the mouth of the cave it is a trek and a swim, with only the light of your helmet for guidance. After your adventure bathe in a pool of mud, before kayaking back across the river and cleaning off.
Please note: This tour requires physical fitness and involves swimming, kayaking, ziplining and walking on uneven ground, sometimes bent over inside of caves, and is therefore not recommended for guests with limited mobility or those who utilize a wheelchair. This tour is not recommended to people with acrophobia, achluophobia, claustrophobia, cardiology disease and not able to swim. Casual clothes, swim suit and sneakers or sandals are recommended, as well as sunscreen, sunglasses, and hat. It is recommented to wear swimsuit under clothing. Life wests and safety helmets will be provided. The temperature in the river is between 22 C degrees to 25 C degrees (71-77 Fahrenheit) and is dropping in the Dark Cave to 15 degrees (59 Fahrenheit).
