Diocletian Palace

Your walking tour commences with a visit to the Diocletian Palace. Old Split is synonymous with the palace complex. In fact, the Old Town is built on and around the spectacular palace erected by the Roman emperor Diocletian, who was born in nearby Salona. Upon entering the palace, see the excavated, well-preserved basement halls.

Cathedral of St. Duje

Next, proceed along the colonnaded peristyle to the Neo-Romanesque cathedral of St. Duje, dedicated to the patron saint of the city. The cathedral, built on the remains of an ancient shrine, is considered to be among the oldest in the world.

Ethnographical Museum

Ethnographical Museum which is situated in the very heart of Diocletian Palace, actually in the Emperor´s Apartment. Museum itself, as building, is very interesting since it is a combination of a beautiful medieval house and imperial rooms. It houses a valuable collection of clothes, dresses and gowns, but also gives an interesting picture of life in Split throughout centuries.

Uje Bar & Olive Oil Tasting

Afterwards, walk to the Uje Oil Bar, the first Croatian olive oil bar completely dedicated to the Mediterranean food based on olive oil. Traiined olive oil master will guide you through the World of olives from the ancient tradition to the modern production. Learn how to smell, taste and enjoy three different types of oil oil, pairing them with fleur de sel and aceto balsamico.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking (approximately 1 km/ 0.75 miles) occasionally over uneven or cobbled surfaces, with approximately 25 stairs to be negotiated at the museum. The Old Town must be explored on-foot.  This tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility or those who utilise a wheelchair. Conservative dress is required when visiting the Cathedral. Clothing should cover the shoulders and knees; shorts and tank tops are not permitted. During religious celebration the visit will be only external. Credit cards are not accepted in all venues, we suggest to bring local currency. The order of sites viewed or visited may vary.Please note that on Sunday the visit of the Cathedral will be external only.
