Excursion Discovering north – bali cultural heritage tour at Celukan Bawang

Experience the rich cultural heritage and natural splendour of North Bali during this picturesque, full-day sightseeing excursion.

Singaraja, Royal Palace and Gedong Kirtya Library

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.5-hour drive to Singaraja, the former capital city of Bali Province during the Dutch occupation of the island. Upon arrival, visit the Royal Palace of Singaraja. This historical palace, often referred as the 'Puri Agung Gede', was built in 1604. Following a guided walking tour of the palace, walk to the adjacent Gedong Kirtya Library. This wonderful library houses about 3,000 lontar books and Balinese manuscripts.

Sangsit and Beji Temple

Next, re-board the coach for a short, scenic drive to the small village of Sangsit. Here, a visit is made to the 10th-century Beji Temple. This beautiful temple is filled with ornate sculptures featuring gates and walls redolent with highly-detailed carvings of North Bali.

Lovina, Lunch and Balinese Dancers

Your tour continues with a drive to nearby Lovina, which consists of a string of coastal villages with popular beach resorts and volcanic, black-sand beaches. Proceed to a local restaurant for a buffet lunch accompanied by a traditional Balinese dance performance. After lunch, re-board your coach and commence the approximately one-hour drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking for approximately 273 yards (about 250 metres), at times over uneven and cobblestone surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and eight steps at the Royal Palace of Singaraja, 10 steps at the Gedong Kirtya Library, and 12 steps at the Beji Temple. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. Guests must be at least six years old to participate on this tour.
