For a very long time, Ecuador has become a recognized source of quality cacao beans and recent scientific studies have shown evidence that not only Cacao beans where present in pre-hispanic Ecuador, but of its cultivation and consumption by the inhabitants of the South East of what is now Ecuador over 5.000 years ago.
Nowadays, Ecuador is still the first producer of Fine Aroma Cacao, and continues to export to demanding markets such as Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, USA and Japan.
