Grand Canal Cruise (non-narrated)
Depart the pier in the evening aboard a motor launch for the 45-minute transfer to St. Mark's Square via the famous Grand Canal. Marvel at a panorama of noble buildings and superbly detailed façades that epitomize the architectural beauty of Venice, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the transfer a local will point out the sights of interest.
St. Mark's Square and Basilica
Upon arrival at St. Mark's Square, proceed for a guided tour of the Byzantine Basilica, one of the most venerated sites in the city. Learn about the history of the basilica and marvel at St. Mark's extraordinary treasures, the finest being the large gold Pala d'Oro, which is encrusted with more than 1,000 jewels and Byzantine enamels. The basilica is particularly rich in mosaics, which cover 10,764 square feet (1,000 square metres) of its interior; many of them date back to Byzantium. The remains of Saint Mark, patron saint of Venice, are interred here. Crowded with visitors during the day, it becomes a silent temple of worship as the evening falls.
Giudecca Canal Cruise
At the conclusion of the tour, you will be transferred by motorboat back to the ship via the Giudecca Canal, or opt to remain in town and return to the ship on your own.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking and standing for approximately 0.62 miles (about 1km), at times on cobblestone, uneven and/or slippery surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the motor launch and 600 steps up/down. Walking in St. Mark's Square is at the discretion of each guest. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes are recommended. Proper attire is required to enter the basilica; shorts and bare shoulders are not permitted. Although the basilica is closed to the public, other guests may be permitted to visit during your time there. Photography is not allowed inside the basilica. During the transfer from the pier to St. Marks Square no commentary is provided. For security purposes, large bags and backpacks are not allowed inside of the Basilica. In order to prevent delays, it is recommended that guests not bring large bags or backpacks. The tour sequence may vary. Space on this tour is very limited; we suggest you book in advance to avoid disappointment.
