Excursion Explore milos aboard a traditional boat tour at Milo
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Experience the seagoing character and natural beauty of Milos’ coast from the comfort of a traditional wooden boat called "kaiki", stopping in to explore remote fishing villages and spectacular beaches.
Fishing Villages of Schinopi and Klima
Board on a beautiful wooden traditional boat for our sea adventure. From Adamas port we sail west passing by the fishing villages of Schinopi and Klima with their unique traditional fishermen boat houses. These fishermen boat houses provide accommodation to them and their families while protecting their boats, which are docked beneath each building like a garage. These boat houses are called “syrmata” (wires) because the fishermen use wire to pull their boats from the water into the houses.
Cape Vani, Rock Formations, Milos Coastline
From Klima we sail towards Cape Vani, a location of a manganese mine of the early 19th century. Dark volcanic steep rocks and the red offer an extraordinary site. Then the boat will head via the west side of Milos towards Kleftiko. On the way we will have a chance to admire the unique volcanic coastline of Milos.
Kleftiko, Local Snack & Drinks
Upon arrival at Kleftiko there will be time for swimming in the crystal-clear water of the bay (weather and sea conditions permitting). Used by the pirates for few centuries, the area has many volcanic sea caves which we will admire. Local snack and drinks will be served on board and the boat will start to return towards the port. Along the way and depending on the wind and overall boat traffic the captain will select a secluded beach for the second refreshing swim of the day (weather and sea condition permitting). While onboard enjoy some finger food based on local delicies accompanied by a selection of drinks.
Then we will sail back to Adamas port.
