Excursion Fort abercrombie state park nature walk tour at Kodiak

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Explore Kodiak's spectacular beauty and wartime history during this scenic hike through a portion of 183-acre Ft. Abercrombie State Park. Depart the pier for the 15-minute drive to the park. Upon arrival, your guide leads you on a hike along well-maintained natural and gravel trails offering breathtaking views. A variety of seabirds inhabit the park's coastline, and whale sightings are frequently reported in this area throughout the season.

The natural earth trails lead you through forested areas, some with 10% to 20% inclines, as well as near ocean bluffs. Enjoy sweeping views from Fort Abercrombie, a historic defense installation for the North Pacific during World War II. The site offers a bunker museum of wartime memorabilia as well as beautiful views of both land and sea.

Remnants of WWII bunkers and gun placements are throughout the park, and a stop at Miller Point provides panoramic ocean views. Your hike will concludes back at the main parking area, where you will re-board your bus for the return drive to the pier.
