Excursion Furnas valley & north coast highlights tour at Ponta Delgada

Depart from the pier and head northeast through the island's fertile agricultural area towards Ribeira Grande, the oldest and largest town on the northern coast, recognized for its strong Portuguese influence. As you continue along the coastline, take in the views from the Santa Iria Belvedere and pass by the Gorreana Tea Plantation before arriving at Pico do Ferro Belvedere, which offers a breathtaking view of the Furnas Valley.

Prior to lunch at Terra Nostra Casino, take a moment to visit the stunning Terra Nostra Park, renowned for its extraordinary subtropical gardens.

After lunch, delve into the Furnas Hot Springs - an impressive natural site featuring mineral and thermal waters that flow from over 20 steaming sulphur vents. Make your way back to Ponta Delgada via the southern route, passing through the charming village of Vila Franca do Campo, which was once the capital of the island.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 0.95 miles (about 1.5 kilometres), at times over uneven, narrow and cobblestone streets, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the bus and at the sites visited. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended.
