Tallinn, Upper-Old Town Stroll

After being greeted by a costumed monk, a spectral figure straddling the realms of the living and the dead, depart the pier for the short drive to the Upper-Old Town of Tallinn, an UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval town centres in Europe. Medieval Tallinn was the northernmost member of the Hanseatic League, a powerful merchant alliance. Upon arrival, take a stroll through the Upper-Old Town. Along the way, the costumed monk imparts a chilling, eye-raising narrative about the Old Town’s otherworldly connection.

Toompea Hill, St. Nicholas Church, Danish King’s Garden

Since ancient times, Tallinn's Old Town has captivated hearts with its legends and ghostly tales. Your first stop is at the Danish King’s Garden. Located next to Toompea Hill on the slope facing the St. Nicholas Church, the Danish King’s Garden is renowned as the most haunted area in Tallinn. Here, the devils are rumoured to have set fires in the middle of the square. Your walk continues towards the St. Nicholas Church. During a photo stop here, the costumed monk recounts the curious tale of Herzog de Croÿ and gestures towards the spot where legend has it that the devil himself orchestrated a wedding.

Lower-Old Town Stroll, Medieval Streets, Town Hall Square, Dominican Monastery

Next, descend the stairs leading down to Tallinn’s quaint Lower-Old Town and take a stroll through its medieval streets. Tales of ghosts and spirits also abound within the confines of its captivating Town Hall Square, each echoing with whispers of centuries past. Your tour culminates at the ancient Dominican Monastery, erected in 1246. Whilst leading your group through its halls, the costumed monk unveils echoes of gasping monks and haunting Gregorian chants that still linger within its walls. Before departing, the monk hands out a mysterious elixir, fostering a deeper connection with the spectral inhabitants. At the conclusion of your tour, re-board your coach for the short drive back to the pier.
