Excursion Hike to hengifoss waterfall tour at Seydisfjordur

Leaving Seydisfjordur, we cross the scenic Fjardarheidi mountain pass, passing small waterfalls and the village of Egilsstadir, the area's main town. We then drive along Lake Lagarfljot, famed for the legend of the giant serpent rumored to dwell beneath its waters. Next, we stop at Hengifoss, Iceland’s second-highest waterfall at 128 meters, with a brief visit to the visitor center before a 2.5-hour hike to and from the waterfall, passing Litlanesfoss with its basalt columns. Afterward, we continue around the lake to Hallormsstadur, Iceland’s largest forest, home to over forty tree species from around the world, before returning to port.
