Excursion Hiking on the path of gods & positano tour at Amalfi
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Known around the world for its beauty, the Amalfi Coast is a destination in Italy for travelers longing to see its rugged and lovely landscape, with steep, terraced cliffs covered in wildflowers, ancient homes and charming old fishing villages below. Explore a jewel of the Amalfi Coast on foot by taking a hike along the Path of the Gods, a trail that winds along the coast and features stunning views of the coastline and beautiful wooded paths.
Explore the Town of Agerola
From the pier drive 45 minutes on your air-conditioned coach to arrive at the town of Agerola perched at a high point along the Amalfi Coast. Take a bit of free time to explore Agerola, known as "little Switzerland" for its modern buildings and natural mountain beauty before beginning your hike.
Hike the Path of the Gods
Meet your Alpine guide and, after a safety briefing, embark on your hike of the scenic Path of the Gods. Discover a birds-eye view of many villages of the Amalfi Coast as you hike 1,500 feet above sea level, with breathtaking views of the bright blue water below and majestic Mount Pertuso in the distance. The Path of the Gods, or Il Sentiero degli Dei, provides an intimate window into daily life along the Amalfi Coast, where residents of ancient homes grow wine grapes and tomatoes on their terraced farmland plots, taking full advantage of the steep terrain. The path leads eventually to Positano, though your three-hour hike cannot get you there; rejoin the coach to drive a short distance to the end of the Path of the Gods.
Discover Lovely Positano
Make your last stop in beautiful Positano to relax after your three-hour hike. Wind your way through this cliff-side village filled with colorful homes and buildings that seem to have grown right out of the surface of the cliff, just as naturally as the terraced farmland you saw on your hike. Quench your thirst with a refreshment at a local restaurant and take some time on your own to explore Positano's exquisite boutiques and pleasant seaside cafes.
Make the scenic 1-hour return trip to the pier.
