Excursion Lake tanuki trekking & mt. fuji panorama tour at Shimizu
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Begin your experience at Lake Tanuki, set on the expansive Asagiri Plateau and renowned for its sweeping views of Mount Fuji. Seasonal colors transform the landscape throughout the year, creating an ever-changing panorama reflected in the calm waters of the lake. Surrounded by broadleaf forest and open natural spaces, this area is cherished for hiking, birdwatching, camping, and is considered a nationally known destination for crucian carp fishing.
Continue to the Odanuki Marsh, located just north of the lake and dotted with more than 125 small ponds. A wooden boardwalk winds through the marsh, allowing you to explore this rare wetland ecosystem up close. The area is home to over 70 species of butterflies, 20 species of dragonflies, native frogs, and a variety of unusual plants unique to the marsh environment. As you walk, enjoy the natural “soundscape” of wild birds echoing through the wetlands.
Your journey concludes at Jinba Falls, a simple yet elegant waterfall along the Gotomegi River. Its name derives from the time when Minamoto no Yoritomo, the founder of the Kamakura shogunate, established a camp nearby during his Fuji hunting expedition. Today, the waterfall remains a beloved local site, celebrated each year in late August during the Jinba Falls Festival.
This nature-rich experience offers a serene blend of alpine views, wetland ecology, and local history, all set against the timeless backdrop of Mount Fuji.
