Excursion Majestic cradle mountain tour at Burnie
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Visit one of the most popular natural areas in Tasmania, Cradle Mountain in Lake St Clair National Park. Experience breathtaking panoramas and explore the pristine rain forest, glacial lakes and waterfalls.
Lake St Clair National Park
Board your coach at the pier and travel to the Lake St Clair National Park, traversing some of the wildest, most undisturbed terrain in Tasmania - including primeval rainforests, sub-alpine lakes and jagged Mount Ossa. The natural wonders keep coming as you arrive at the park, part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
Cradle Mountain
Cradle Mountain was declared a national park in 1922, thanks to the efforts of Austrian Gustav Weindorfer who built a chateau here and petitioned for a decade to have this land preserved. Today, one-fourth of all visitors to Tasmania come to this awe-inspiring park to discover nature's splendor.
Cradle Mountain Visitor and Interpretation Centre, Dove Lake
Upon arrival in Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, visit the interpretation center for background and history on this region of icy streams cascading from rugged mountains, King Billy pines climbing skyward and fascinating wildlife such as Tasmanian devils, quolls and platypus. Afterwards, board a coaster for the drive to Dove Lake. Enjoy some free time to take a stroll or just enjoy the views. There is an approximate four-mile pathway with much of it on a boardwalk that winds around the lake. You may be able to view dramatic Cradle Mountain reflected in the still waters of Dove Lake (weather permitting).
Lunch
Following your visit, depart for Peppers Cradle Mountain and enjoy a delicious two course lunch in this scenic location within Cradle Mountain National Park before it is time for the scenic drive back to Burnie.
