Excursion Nærøyfjord cruise, unesco sognefjord and viking village tour at Flam

Embark on a scenic journey by land and water through fjords, as well as charming Nordic towns and stunning panoramic views. Cruise the majestic Nærøyfjord, a branch off of Sognefjord, one of the world's longest and deepest fjords that is filled with the most impressive scenery imaginable.

Sognefjord

UNESCO has dedicated the Sognefjord as a World Heritage Site for its exquisite natural beauty. Glacial waterways are lined by evergreen forests amidst jagged mountains and sheer cliff walls. Speed along past waterfalls, spotting marine mammals along the way. Nærøyfjord, named for the Norse god "Njord," the God of the Seafarer and the sea.

Fjord Cruise from Flam to Gudvangen

Board your boat and head out for your fjord cruise, enjoying views of the snow-covered mountains that tower 1,800 metres above sea-level.

Gudvangen

Reach Gudvangen, the place of Gods by the Nærøyfjord, the fjord dedicated to Njord- the god for trading and sailing. Here you will visit the Viking community where people have chosen to dedicate their lifestyle to the Viking era.

Viking Village

You will experience a Viking Village as it really could have been time more than thousand years ago.  Let the Vikings impress you with their skills and know-how in handcrafts and history. If you feel like trying it yourself you can participate in axe throwing or archery. Or maybe rather chat with the Vikings and find out about what makes their lifestyle so different from nowadays.

Make your return drive to Flåm (20 minutes), enjoying the magnificent views over the awe-inspiring Sognefjord. Arrive at the pier to return to the ship.

Note

Please note: This tour involves a minimal amount of walking; however, guests must be able to negotiate the steps on and off the boat and the coach. The tour is suitable to guests with mobility difficulty. For each call, half of the groups will follow the tour in reverse order, starting with the scenic drive first and concluding with the fjord cruise. Guests wishing to purchase refreshments onboard the boat, must carry Euros or Norwegian Kronas or credit cards.

For the cruise, guests will travel on one of the electric or hybrid “The Fjords” catamaran, which will be shared with non-Silversea guests.
